This retail space design brings a new shopping and community experience to the consumer through through innovative sustainable construction techniques, energy generation, community building, education regarding sustainable possibilities, waste management, and fostering a local economy. The central premise for the concept is radical resource efficiency and maximum return on investment with a long term view and consideration of externalities, that is adaptable to both new construction and existing buildings.

Shops, including grocery store and restaurants, feature local suppliers and designers, therefore minimizing the footprint of each product purchased, as well as improving access to local, seasonal, healthy food, and building the local economy through direct to consumer sales opportunities. Through the money multiplier effect, the resources spent on local products, serve to improve the quality of life of the local community.

Zero waste is encouraged through recycling programs, as well as a living machine enhancing the architecture of the building, and diverting organic material and waste water generated by businesses from the landfill.

A resilient business ecosystem is created by diversifying the tenant base to include office space and small workshop space, as well as retail and restaurant space, further contributing to minimizing the over all community carbon footprint, by reducing transportation impacts.
